Hard Hand

A blackjack hand with no Ace, or one where the Ace must count as 1 to avoid busting.

Definition

A hard hand has no flexible Ace. Drawing a 10-value card risks busting. Hard hands are inflexible compared to soft hands.

Examples

If you draw an Ace and a soft hand becomes too high to keep counting the Ace as 11, the Ace automatically demotes to 1. The hand becomes hard.
